Abstract
The authors report a rare case of intracranial spontaneous carotid dissection which compromised the ophthalmic artery and which was treated with primary stenting. This procedure was performed with a heparin coated coronary stent. Post-procedural and 10-month follow-up angiography demonstrated unexpected restoration of the ophthalmic artery with no stenosis. No ischemic events occurred during the 20-month follow-up period.
